Bernstein Celebration

In 2018, K+C embarked on a celebration of Leonard Bernstein’s centennial through the creation of new work with performances across the country from California to Colorado to South Dakota, engaging thousands of audience members through the unique pairing of Bernstein’s iconic melodies with Larry Keigwin’s theatricality and wit. Support for K+C Celebrates Bernstein included the National Endowment for the Arts, New York State Council on the Arts, Rockefeller Brothers Fund, Lake Placid Performing Arts Center, and Valley Performing Arts Center.

New works included Sonata and Three Plus One, which joined existing pieces in K+C’s repertory set to iconic Bernstein scores, Episodes and Waterfront, both commissioned by The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts and the National Symphony Orchestra in 2014, for the company’s K+C Celebrates Bernstein tour in 2018.
